The links presented in this
section of the New Jersey School Counselors Association Web site
are provided to assist counselors, students and parents in exploring
the many options and resources available on the Internet.
After exploring some of the
sites linked on this page, it is important that you continue your
search independently as more and better sites are being developed
every day. Once you have searched career, college and financial
aid sites be certain to use your email capability to gain more information
from individuals. Many college home pages list the email addresses
of alumni, professors, coaches and students. Write to them, asking
questions about the school, the major or any other important information
you want. You'll be surprised how many will write back and give
you the "unofficial" information you are seeking. What
better way to explore and analyze a college than by exchanging information
with those on campus?
Other excellent resources
are on-line campus newspapers and newsgroups that discuss your potential
college or college entrance in general. Email and newsgroups are
also excellent ways to explore possible careers. Newsgroup information
can be accessed at Google's "http://groups.google.com"
by entering your interest area in the search field. (Try "college
admissions.") Many professions have trade association home
pages where information can be gathered and questions answered.
Use your search engines to find these sites.
